Last year, before GM was ready to publicly acknowledge the death of the Chevrolet Bolt, the puzzle pieces pointed so clearly to that outcome that we wrote, “Tell me you’re killing the Bolt without telling me you’re killing the Bolt.” The automaker made it official in April of this year, telling dealers they could order the popular electric hatch until this summer, ending production around Q3. But the solution to one puzzle starts another puzzle, and the new pieces allow us to play the same game with GM from the opposite direction. That is, “Tell us

China extends tax breaks for new-energy vehicles

China extended tax breaks for consumers buying clean light vehicles through 2027, estimated to be worth 520 billion yuan ($72.3 billion) in the coming four years, in an effort to bolster its flagging electric-vehicle industry.

The move, announced at a briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, is the latest in a series of steps to lift sales and production in the world’s biggest EV market.

“Even though China has accomplished certain achievements in the new energy vehicle industry, the sector still has problems, including insufficient supply of critical technology and uneven development in the wider market,” said Xin Guobin, an official

Chinese automakers are also making remarkable strides in the global market, particularly in developing areas such as Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Plus, almost every country in Europe has become a target market for different Chinese automakers.

Consequently, China is on its way to surpassing Germany and Japan to become the world’s largest vehicle exporter. Over the past two years, the total number of passenger vehicle exports from China to the global market has increased

OTTAWA — Stellantis and South Korea’s LG Energy Solution (LGES) are implementing “contingency plans” related to a more-than $5-billion battery plant investment in Canada because the federal government has not delivered on its promises, a Stellantis spokesperson said May 12.

“As of today, the Canadian Government has not delivered on what was agreed to, therefore Stellantis and LG Energy Solution will immediately begin implementing their contingency plans,” Stellantis said in a brief emailed statement, without elaborating.

LGES and Stellantis announced the investment last year to establish a large-scale, domestic, electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility in Canada.

At the time, Canada’s

Searching “Windshield Replacement Near Me”

Car windows and windshields are things that many drivers just don’t think much about– until one day they suddenly need to be replaced. Maybe it’s a large chip, or a small crack that has since flourished over time into a web of other cracks. Perhaps it was a single incident of blunt force that smashed the windshield in seconds. Regardless of what it looks like or how it happened, the truth is that any damage to car windows and particularly windshields should be repaired as soon as possible. But since this is not something drivers actively think about, it can

From now on, Toyota enters the second phase, when it will quickly incorporate learnings and improvements from those EVs into forthcoming model introductions. That stage will last until around 2026, when Toyota will have built up enough capacity to sell some 1.5 million EVs globally.

The third phase kicks off in 2026, when Toyota introduces a completely new EV platform along with its Arene software system for cars. That will allow Toyota to leverage a new vehicle software system to unlock new revenue streams, business models and hyper-efficient product development cycles.

The new setup being developed will enable Toyota’s future
