Massive fire destroys popular auto repair shop in Meaford

A large fire destroyed a decades-old family-run auto repair shop and disrupted the flow of water in Meaford Thursday night.

Black smoke from the blaze at Johnny B’s Automotive and Car Care was seen as far away as Owen Sound and The Blue Mountains as neighbors reported hearing explosions and being overwhelmed by fumes and heat.

No injuries were reported as of Friday morning.

Ready to head into retirement, Mark Sheppard has sold his business, Quality Automotive Repair of Sault Ste. Marie.

Mike Lynn of Sault Ste. Marie, who has an extensive background in the automotive industry, is the new owner, according to a news release.

Lynn previously owned and operated Lynn Auto Parts, Inc., which features over 10 locations across Northern Michigan.
